A senior data engineer will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the database and related data-intensive systems. The ideal candidate will develop and ensure efficient infrastructure and database related solutions to store, transform, and process data for day-to-day business decision consumption needs.

Job Duties:

• Lead the design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support business objectives.
• Lead data integration projects that involve combining raw data from different sources. Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Keep up to date with policies and procedures to safeguard data loss.
• Proficient in architecture of data warehousing products, capable of utilizing various technologies and tools.
• Proficient in defining the best design and development practices to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources.
• Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner.
• Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses.
• Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards.
• Performing tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.
• Monitoring database performance, implementing changes, and applying new patches and versions when required.

Essential Skills:

• Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
• Knowledge of technical controls for data collection, data quality control, and compliance.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR, Kafka, Airflow, Redshift.
• Familiarity with database design, data strategies, and modern scripting/programming language (Python, Java, Scala, Node.js, etc.).
• Hands-on experience and excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL.
• Familiar with optimization of Relational Database (e.g. SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• Experienced with NoSQL Database (e.g. Influx DB, MongoDB).
• Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.

• Department: S, M.S.  in computer science or a related field

• Work Experience: 5+ years’ experience as a senior Data Engineer or a higher role.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of cloud distribution platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Experience with database systems management.
• Experience with operating data warehouses.
