26 Apr: Point of Sale Hardware in 2019: 5 Big Developments

With the rise of digital payments and increasing use of credit cards, merchants must keep up with payment trends. When customers sense that their preferred methods of payments are being met, they will be more likely to revisit stores and talk positively about the company. With cash, credit cards and contactless payments all working as viable payments options, it’s important to have a point of sale hardware system that allows your customers to pay whichever way is easiest for them. As of 2017, 44 percent of consumers preferred debit cards as their main payment method and the next most common method was credit cards at 33 percent. Additionally, about 10% loaded a credit card to a mobile wallet and 9% loaded debit card to a mobile wallet for digital payments. The…

Today, brands are built around customer retention and brand recognition. Digital Loyalty programs are part of the brand experience and the value-added service that goes beyond paying for a product or service. Designed with the consumer in mind, these programs make sure loyal customers are well taken care of and rewarded for their commitment to the brand. Also, many companies are investing in new technologies to make their rewards systems more effective, stand out from others and attract more customers. 19 Mar: PIN on Glass: 4 Secret Things You Need to Know

Businesses have more options for points of sale than ever before. Because of this, it is important to understand which payment types will work best for your company and how they differ. PIN on Glass, one of the latest emerging technologies for transactions, eliminates the cost and space needed for outdated, hefty hardware. Instead of using standalone kiosks or terminals for point of sale, businesses can download software onto tablets that are equipped with EMV readers that transfer PINs directly to the smart device’s screen. The 2018 Federal Reserve Payment Study found that from 2016 to 2017, credit card payments increased by 10.1 percent by number and 8.4 percent by value. Additionally, there was an ATM cash withdrawal decline by 2.8% that could be connected to the increase in credit card…

12 Mar: EMV Compliance: What You Need to Know

What is EMV? EMV® technology was developed and managed by American Express, Discover, JCB, Mastercard, UnionPay, and Visa. It is a global standard for credit cards that use computer chips to authenticate chip-card transactions. EMV chips encrypt bank information making it far more secure than the old magnetic-stripe cards. EMV technology was created primarily to prevent credit card fraud. When counterfeit or lost and stolen fraud does occur, cardholders may lose trust in their card product, their bank, and in the merchant where the fraud occurred. In most cases, the issuer will have to close the account and in doing so may risk losing cardholder accounts. A merchant can lose revenue associated with the fraudulent purchase and possibly future business from the cardholder. EMV cards are smart cards (also called chip…

14 Feb: Payment Kiosks in 2019

It’s a new year so perhaps we should discuss what to look for in the coming year and what to look for in kiosk hardware. What’s ahead in 2019? Today, individuals by using a self-service interactive payment kiosk can take full control of their payments. Touch payments are one of the most popular device integration choices within a kiosk, allowing you to tap and go! Biometrics Biometrics may seem new, but the technology has been around since 2005. Those with iPhones have had the ability to unlock their phone with their fingerprint for a little over five years now. So the possibility to make the leap to a biometric finger option to make payments is not so far fetched. Since finger veins are unique, this is an extremely secure way to…
